Lake District??

No I have not been to Thailand, nor the mountains of Northern China.   Those are not paddy fields, they are actually green pastures in the North of England

What that photo is of is of the hills in the Lakedistrict at Keswick. The original photo (after the break) was……

Taken with a 50mm lens on my Nikon D300. It is a stitched panorama made up of about 17 images then edited to add a bit of contrast to the sky.

Once happy with that shot I then put it into Gimp (the free open-source equivalent of photoshop) and all I did was play around with the Scale tool, clicked on the photo and made sure that the Height and Width Dimensions were not locked and I just made the 11000 pixel length 3thousand. Hay presto youhave yourself a slightly distorted image that make the mountains look massive and your perspective look like you were in a helicopter!

To get the shots first you need a Dslr, (actually you dont need that but that is what I used)

a good sharp lens, (I used the 50mm f1.4 at about f5.6)

a tripod

and some panoramic software
